Falls Reservoir: In Search of Blue Skies

Falls Reservoir

The WeatherBug radar showed a solid band of clouds in western North Carolina but nothing large over the Charlotte area and further east. However, a torrential downpour with no end in sight was spilling over our gutters making a curtain of water off the front porch. Along with everyone else in the Charlotte area, Todd and I were sick of the rain and needed some blue skies and nature. With a wish and a prayer, we loaded up the kayak and headed east to Falls Reservoir on the Yadkin River.

We did find blue skies and (BONUS!) got to see a bald eagle in the wild. I wasn’t quick enough with the camera to catch the eagle, but I did get a few pictures and some video for you to see how lovely the reservoir is.

The rain caught up with us after a few hours resulting in a drenched and slightly freaked out fuzzy sidekick. But the day ended with cozy snuggles on the couch, so she forgave us.
